More About Me
Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Good with other dogs, affectionate with people, active and loyal.
M
ax is like most poodles - alert, intelligent, trainable, and instinctual. They are very smart dogs and learn quickly.
Poodles are known to be loyal and typically bond quickly with family members. They are also known to be sporadic barkers.

Max is currently living with an older toy poodle who is blind. Max helps this dog navigate and is very gentle with him - Max even sleeps with the older dog.

Max is very submissive and has a warm temperament. He loves humans endlessly and is gentle with the family's 5 yr old child.

As would be expected, if ignored for long periods without exercise and interaction, he may dig or eat plastic toys.

Ideal Owner
Active singles or couples home more often than not looking for a companion - not merely a non shedding coat.

Max really loves human company and constantly follows humans around the house. He thrives on having people around but is ok alone for half the day.

Max would prefer to be the only permanent dog in the home - not because he is jealous but so he can have all the attention.

While he is good with kids we recommend homes where any kids are at least teenagers and only if gentle and calm around dogs. No dog deserves to be rough housed or exposed to a loud, chaotic environment.

Max will not suit homes where people live in very close proximity to each other with small outside areas e.g. villas, units, apartment complexes, terrace houses, strata complexes etc.

As Max is people orientated he needs to be part of family activities.

He will not suit homes with residents that are:
  • very young, frail, elderly,
  • renters,
  • novice dog owners
  • full tome workers or
  • time poor.
Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker. Alert barker when alone.

Max will suit any of the following:
  • someone home more often than not.
  • someone that works from home.
  • part time workers.
  • empty nesters.
  • active retirees.
Like most dogs he needs exercise, mental stimulation and interaction otherwise he may become bored and dig.
Max is fine for half the day but then becomes bored.

Exercise Requirements
Medium - playful and moderately active.

When ON a lead ...
Like most dogs starts off pulling but settles.

When OFF a lead ...
Like most dogs Max's recall is usually good unless he is distracted. He loves birds and can become preoccupied chasing them.

Type of Yard Required
  • Medium to large interesting and secure.
  • May take advantage of an open gate and wander off but does not usually try and escape.
  • Ok with shoulder height fencing.
