PETE AND MANU'S PROFILE
BICHON FRISE

Generally.
Pete and Manu are little puffs of personality:- affectionate, playful, sensitive, gentle, cheerful and feisty. As the breed is know for their 'quirks' we recommend a home that has experience with the breed.

They love people and are always a joy to be around. But can also be dominant and stubborn at times.

Because they love to please and are very smart the boys are relatively easy to train. They are not a dominant breed, so force is not necessary, and in fact can damage the psyche of these people-pleasers.

Pete and Manu can be dominant when meeting new dogs but are usually fine with dogs they know.

Ideal home.
New owners will need to understand the dogs require a number of weeks to settle. In this time they will bark, be dominant and antisocial. This improves once settled.

Pete and Manu love, love, love to be with people and are best suited to owners with a stay at home parent, part time workers or are retired/semi retired. You will need to be actively looking for two dogs that can be involved with family activities.

They also need at least a medium sized secure yard.

The breed is known to bark at new or strange things so their new owners will need to have the time and patience to help them settle in. We do not recommend homes where residents live in close proximity to each other.

Pete and Manu will not suit homes where residents are young, frail, elderly or time poor.

Other dogs?
Not initially e.g. at the park, but yes with most dogs they know.

Cats?
No

Kids
No.

Size.
Pete 7 kgs. Manu 9 kgs.

Exercise requirements?
Pete and Manu are moderately active and enjoy a brisk daily walk or playtime at the park or at home. They will forgive you if you miss a day.

How is this dog on a lead?
Well behaved. They may pull towards another dog because they want to make friends and play.

How is this dog off the lead?
They almost always come back when called.

Escape artist?
Not once settled into their new home.

Nuisance barker?
Bichon Frises’ tend to be alert barkers and will respond to strange or new noises.  Pete and Manu have been trained to stop on command but will need time to settle into new surroundings.

They may not suit folks in high-density housing or where residents live extremely close together.

Destructive?
Not at their current home.  They stick to playing gently with their toys.

Toilet trained?
Yes.

Tolerance to being alone.
Very good.

Likes.
Cuddles and playing with a ball are favourites but top on the list is playing with each other and interacting with their human family.

Dislikes.
Being separated or ignored for long periods of time.

Contractual Note: Pete and Manu cannot be separated after adoption in accordance with the Dog Adoption Terms and Conditions. Dog Adoption may ask for updates from time to time.
