Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Affectionate young maltese poodle, good with other dogs, affectionate, fun and happy. Stella is engaging and charming while also being bubbly and at times exuberant. This breed is not one that will always sit contentedly on your lap all day. Her high intelligence makes her trainable but means she also requires her quota of mental stimulation. Her greatest joy is simply spending time with her human family. While she is fine with other dogs, she is people focused. After all the excitement of the day is over she enjoys a snuggle and a cuddle. Stella can be a fussy eater. She also loves the car but tends to talk on the way. Back seat driver? This breed is also known for barking - just to hear her own voice. While Stella does enjoy quiet times where she is extremely affectionate, she also has times where she knows no boundaries - at times jumping and licking with unfettered excitement. Stella goes to the dog park frequently and loves playing with the other dogs but will enthusiastically rush into another dogs' space - she needs work on her doggy manners. Ideal Owner Folks looking for a quiet lap dog who will dutifully follow you around the house all day - look elsewhere. Stella is affectionate but also excitable, active and demanding - at times a pocket rocket. She needs a home where someone is home more often than not, able to continue training and also love her unconditionally. As this breed was created to be a companion dog, she is not comfortable being left alone for long periods. Stella needs an experienced dog owner without young children (as Stella jumps and licks little people) who will be devoted to this cheeky little girl. As she would prefer all the attention she needs to be the only permanent dog in the home. Although small, she is energetic so her new owners should have time to play with her and exercise her regularly. While Stella is good with kids we recommend homes where any kids are at least teenagers and only if gentle and calm around dogs. No dog deserves to be rough housed or exposed to a loud, chaotic environment. Stella will not suit homes where people live in very close proximity to each other with small outside areas e.g. villas, units, apartment complexes, terrace houses, strata complexes etc. As Stella is people orientated she needs to be part of family activities. She will not suit homes with residents that are:

Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Barks at strange noises especially if she can't see them - worse when alone. Stella will suit any of the following:
Might chew something if left alone for long periods of time. Needs mental stimulation. Exercise Requirements Medium - playful and moderately active. Stella is 'full of beans' at the dog park and also loves playing games at home. Interactive, bright and happy. When ON a lead ... Like most little fluffies Stella is excited about going for walkies and hence, pulls - but she does settle (until she is distracted again). When OFF a lead ... Life is too exciting not to take off and explore !! Stella's recall needs work :-) Type of Yard Required
