More About Me
Ideal Owner
A firm but kind owner looking for a companion dog prepared to exercise Lucy regularly and continue her training. She loves to be stimulated through games and training.

Lucy is ok for full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as she is a central focus when people are home. She needs to be the only permanent dog in the home as she a dominant, 'Top Dog'.

As Lucy is people orientated she needs to be part of family activities.
She will not suit homes with residents that are very young, frail, elderly, renters, time poor or novice dog owners. Experience with the breed preferred but not essential.

Exercise Requirements
Medium - playful and moderately active (can miss a daily walk).
She needs to be played with regularly especially chasey around the home.

When ON a lead ...
Like most dogs she starts off pulling but settles. Lucy is strong so requires a capable owner.

When OFF a lead ...
Never tested but it is assumed she will take off and unlikely to come back.

Type of Yard Required
Medium to large interesting and secure. Requires 6' (2 meter) high fencing. Lucy likes to dig holes to lie in and needs interesting toys so she won't chew things.

Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Lucy will alert to something strange, more so when alone, but is not currently a nuisance barker.
She will suit any of the following:
  • someone home more often than not,
  • someone that works from home,
  • part time workers,
  • empty nesters,
  • active retirees,
  • full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as she is a central focus when people are home.

Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Lucy has a beautiful, warm nature and is also entertaining - regularly making her owners laugh. Like so many GSDs Lucy loves to have a chat and seems to reply when spoken to.  She enjoys being chased and is still like a clumsy puppy at times.

Lucy is typical of the breed in that she is people orientated and craves attention and affection.

Loyal and steadfast, she also barks at people who are close to the house alerting her owners. Lucy is very intelligent and easy to train but can also be a little stubborn.

She loves bones, to play chasey, water, sand, squeaky toys and car rides. Lucy is very sensitive to the heat and loves water - known for emptying her water bowl because she has played in it. She is starting to dislike storms.

Lucy is the 'top dog' and plays roughly with other dogs. As this may escalate into a 'barney' she should be the only dog in the home.

Above all Lucy loves company and being spoken to.
