More About Me
Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Friendly, funny, good with other friendly dogs, affectionate and loyal. Charlie is into 'living life' and is loved by those close to him.

While he is ok alone he thrives on human companionship. He is good with other friendly dogs but may not back down if challenged. Charlie only really feels threatened by dogs with short noses who make distinctive noises when breathing - they sound aggressive to Charlie.

Like many dogs Charlie doesn't like fireworks or thunderstorms and will generally hide in the shower recess until it is over.

Ideal Owner
Active singles or couples, perhaps with older kids, looking for a low maintenance, loyal and steadfast companion.

Charlie prefers the company of his human family but can cope alone. He is ok for full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as he is a central focus when people are home. Another friendly dog of similar breed and size would be nice but is not essential.

While Charlie is good with kids we recommend homes where any kids are at least teenagers and only if gentle and calm around dogs. No dog deserves to be rough housed or exposed to a loud, chaotic environment.

He will not suit homes where people live in very close proximity to each other with small outside areas e.g. villas, units, apartment complexes, terrace houses, strata complexes etc.

As Charlie is people orientated he needs to be part of family activities however, he is not needy.

Charlie will not suit homes with residents that are:
  • very young, frail, elderly,
  • renters,
  • novice dog owners or
  • time poor.
Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker.

Charlie will suit any of the following:
  • someone home more often than not.
  • someone that works from home.
  • part time workers.
  • empty nesters.
  • active retirees.
  • full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as he is a central focus when folks are home. Another friendly dog would be nice but is not essential.

Exercise Requirements
Medium - playful and moderately active. Charlie loves a walk and also playing with a frisbee.

When ON a lead ...
Charlie is usually well behaved - he understands his place in the pecking order.

When OFF a lead ...
He usually stays close by and comes when called. Charlie will basically follow your footsteps unless you tell him to 'go and play'.

Type of Yard Required
  • Medium to large interesting and secure.
  • May take advantage of an open gate and wander off but does not usually try and escape.
  • Ok with shoulder height fencing.
