How will my dog be advertised?

We aim to target like minded people that are not only genuine dog lovers but also conscious of your feelings.
About Dog Adoption
Re homing Questionnaire
We may use some or all of the following.

Dogadoption.org.au
As a minimum dogs are usually posted on both the DogAdoption and PetRescue websites. The DogAdoption website is unique in that it offers unlimited space and can accommodate much more detail. It also allows us to advertise dogs that would otherwise be precluded from being re-homed.

PetRescue.com.au
This is a very powerful National advertising hub that is specifically designed to allow every registered rescue and shelter in Australia to list animals, specifically dogs and cats, that need homes. It attracts applicants who are specifically looking to give a pet a new start as opposed to going to a pet shop, the paper or a breeder.  Your dog will be listed on PetRescue unless it falls outside the rules of the website e.g. aggression, no genuine re-homing requirement etc.

Facebook
Dog Adoption also has a FB page with a small but, genuine following. Social media can also be very powerful. But, as opinion can be corralled into silos of LOVE or VENOM, we use social media with caution.

Internal Classified Networks
Dog Adoption has access to several internal networks e.g. universities and police services. Use of these classifieds will depend on the dog's breed and how urgent the situation is.

Advertising to avoid
We have found advertising in newspapers and on Gumtree are problematic when re-homing dogs. They can attract the wrong 'type' of applicant. The police have said this type of advertising is commonly used by dog fighting rings looking for free dogs to use as bait or combatants. We have also found applicants tend not to be as reliable, mindful of your feelings or honest. These advertising platforms also tend to attract time wasters who have either not thought an adoption through or are not really serious - raising your hopes only to disappear without a trace. They also tend to want a free dog and hence, may not have the financial means or willingness to spend money on vet care, bedding and quality food into the future.
