Although this adorable boy is blind he is a perky, happy and healthy little man. Affectionate and loyal. Low to non shedding.
As the movie shows he has adapted so well you could easily think he is not blind. He will follow your voice or clicking fingers and even find you with back ground noise. He loves camping, making new friends and smuggles.
Fonzi is great with people but is frightened of other dogs. He needs to be the only dog in the home. He is fine when visiting other dogs in the family.
No - Fonzi can't see them when going on walks, so it is not really a problem.
Fonzi loves people and gets excited when someone is nearby – he might accidentally knock a small child over. Regardless, he is over the chaos of a young family and does not like rough play.
Low - short strolls or playtime at home.
How is this dog on a lead?
How is this dog off the lead?
He must never be let off the lead outside the home.
If Fonzi stumbles across an open gate he may venture out. His blindness would then make it almost impossible for him to find his way back, so his environment needs to be secure.
Nuisance barker or destructive.
Yes. Fonzi has always had a dog door and goes outside to go toilet.
Tolerance to being alone.
In order for Fonzi to live out his twilight years peacefully and happily we recommend a home where someone is home more often than not and without any other dogs. He will not suit the very young or frail. As his home is his castle he needs some yard or garden to explore. A doggy door will make thing easier too.
Fonzi loves to sit by your feet, or at least near you – he knows when you are close by. He loves leisurely paced short walks so he can enjoy ‘sniff-a-licous’ delights. He also loves when someone knocks on the door in anticipation of meeting someone new.
Fonzi is unsure of other dogs as he can’t work out where they are and if they are a threat.
Fonzi needs a routine and consistency. He knows where his beds are and will curl up comfortably and go to sleep. He loves a cuddle and some attention, but does not demand this continuously as he likes to have long sleeps during the day. He needs a gentle groomer or an owner prepared to learn how to clip. (He comes with all his clipping equipment.) Fonzi has been blind since he was around 5 yrs old but has adapted really well. He is also on heart medication. All he needs is a loving home where he can live out the rest of his life in peace.
Fonzi is depicted at different ages in the photos.
