- Can my dog's new owner have a trial period before deciding to adopt?
- The answer is no. You retain ownership until the dog physically leaves your property and up until this point you can change your mind at any time. Once you agree to re-home your dog the new owner has a two (2) week cooling off period in which time the dog can be returned to the original owner. This is not a trial but a 'plan B' if something unforeseen happens. Most placements do work unless one party fails to follow the process or has not been transparent.
Cooling off periods V trials
After adoption DOG ADOPTION offers a two week cooling off period in which time the dog can be returned to the previous carer. The detail and integrity of the dog's profile combined with our screening process and meeting opportunities means most placements work out. However, we accept there may be unforeseen circumstances that make a placement impossible.
Cooling off periods
For legal and insurance reasons, we do not usually offer trials.
