Buddy is typical of a friendly but head-strong young dog. He can play well with less dominant dogs he is familiar with but may defend himself from a boisterous dog rushing into his space unexpectedly.
Yes. Buddy lives and plays with 3 cats. He can become a little too boisterous so it is important the cats can have a safe place to retreat to. We always recommend any interactions between cats and dogs are monitored by a responsible adult.
Yes. However, preference will be given where any kids are primary school aged and older – for Buddy’s sake.
Very high. His energy resembles that of a working dog. Plenty of exercise and mental stimulation are a must for Buddy.
How is this dog on a lead?
Buddy is a young, strong, determined dog and needs some work to walk well on a lead. He is especially difficult if he sees something that interests him.
How is this dog off the lead?
Buddy is learning to come back when called but at other times his ‘selective hearing’ will see him run off.
Nuisance barker or destructive.
Tolerance to being alone.
Yes. Preference is always given to homes where the dog does not spend the majority of its time alone – we don’t want him sleeping his life away because his owner is too time poor.
Buddy is very intelligent and enjoys meaningful interactions. He enjoys learning new things and keeping busy. Playing and adventures outdoors are huge highlights for Buddy.
Being a smart dog, Buddy knows when to be cautious. New places and experiences may frighten Buddy at first.
Buddy needs a home with a large, secure yard where he is exercised daily, without exception. He also needs activities that will test his intellect or he will become bored and challenging. His new owner needs to be confident with a large, strong dog and have the skills and time to commit to ongoing training.
Buddy will not suit homes where residents are frail, elderly, very young, time poor or where he is the first dog ever owned.
Buddy will appeal to many homes. He has a lovely, soft temperament who responds to affection and attention. He loves cuddles and chilling out with the people he loves but will also throw himself enthusiastically into outdoor activities. Being smart he can also be dominant so Buddy needs a firm but kind owner.
