Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Cattle dogs routinely require lots of exercise, are protective, sturdy and loyal.
Due to their intelligence owners know that cooping them up with nothing to do will naturally lead to destructive behaviours and barking. They can be dominant with other dogs and are suspicious of strangers.
On the flip side Chase is also affectionate, active, playful and eager to please. Man's best friend.
Chase loves water, jumping on the trampoline and will even slide down a slippery slide. He loves playing and interacting with older kids. Chase sits for meals and lets his family pat him when he eats. He is friendly, loyal and affectionate with his family but takes a little time to warm to strangers. Introductions usually go well as long as they are done in the company of his family.
Chase dislikes being bored, travelling in the car and thunder storms.
Active singles or couples, perhaps with teenagers, looking for a low maintenance, adorable companion.
He is ok for full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as he is a central focus when people are home. He prefers the company of his family though.
Chase needs to be the only permanent dog in the home as this breed can be dominant.
While he is good with kids we recommend homes where any kids are at least teenagers and only if gentle and calm around dogs. No dog deserves to be rough housed or exposed to a loud, chaotic environment.
Chase will not suit homes where people live in very close proximity to each other with small outside areas e.g. villas, units, apartment complexes, terrace houses, strata complexes etc.
As Chase is people orientated he needs to be part of family activities.
Chase will not suit homes with residents that are:
Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker.
Chase will suit any of the following:
Medium - playful and moderately active. He loves long runs.
When ON a lead ...
Needs a little work to walk nicely on the lead.
When OFF a lead ...
Recall is not consistent and needs a little work.
