Yes. Axel is social and keen to play with other dogs.
Yes. He currently lives with a cat. They don't 'sleep in the same bed' but they live together without any problems. They tolerate each other.
Yes however, preference will be given to homes where any kids are primary school aged or older and only if calm and gentle.
Medium - playful and energetic. Regular exercise is often the key to a happy, well-balanced Fox Terrier.
How is this dog on a lead?
Like most dogs he starts off pulling but settles down nicely once on his way.
How is this dog off the lead?
Axel’s recall can be good but he can also develop ‘selective hearing’ if there is something interesting that distracts him.
Nuisance barker or destructive?
No. While Axel hardly ever barks he usually alerts you if something strange is about.
Axel was toilet trained but has been forced to live outside for a number of years. Being a smart boy I expect Axel will get used to it again in a jiffy.
Tolerance to being alone.
Yes however, as Axel is very smart, he may dig if left alone to get bored with nothing to do for ex-tended periods of time. Preference will be given to homes where he is not alone for long periods of time. We don’t want him sleeping his life away ☺
Axel enjoys adventures to the park and things that challenge his intelligence. However, most of all he loves affection and attention from his human family.
Being ignored or alone for long periods of time with nothing to do.
Axel would suit a home with a medium to large, secure yard. If you miss a day of exercise Axel will forgive you but he prefers a daily walk. He will suit families with children and energetic older people. Axel’s small and trim appearance combined with his alert nature makes him a wonderful companion doggy.
He will not suit homes with very young, frail, elderly or time poor residents.
There’s never a dull moment when Axel is around. Axel will melt your heart with his overflowing enthusiasm for life but he also has a very placid nature when it is time to chill out.
Axel is active, alert, feisty when provoked, and thrives on exercise. He is also very intelligent. Fox terriers are out-going and endlessly curious, sometimes to their detriment – snakes may pose dangers.
Looking for a loyal, active companion who will be devoted and keep you on your toes - then Axel is for you !!
