More About Archie
Archie is a rare find as he is friendly with cats, dogs, other animals and of course people. Archie will also make a great companion for someone looking for a playful and loyal buddy. He is also a great jogging buddy.
He requires a home where he will be welcome to be involved with family activities. Archie loves to receive and give affection and is eager to please.
He will be best suited in a home with a large, interesting and secure yard or even acreage. He will thrive in a calm and relatively quiet environment where he is a companion for someone who is at least moderately active.
He will be fine with another dog in the home but will focus on the humans. Archie needs a stay at home parent, active retirees or folks who work from home. He would prefer if he was not left alone for more then 5- 6 hrs.
He will not suit homes where residents are very young, frail, elderly, renters or time poor.
Yes, Archie enjoys being with other dogs and humans alike. If another dog is intimidating he may stand between the dog and his family.
Yes. Archie has been ok with cats at the homes of other people but has never lived with a cat. We recommend he does not live with a cat as a precaution.
Archie thinks chickens are playing when they run so he will run after them. While he does not attack them, his play is too rough for them.
Archie is fine with kids but may accidentally knock a small child over. We recommend any kids be primary school aged or older and only if gentle and calm around dogs.
Medium – he is playful and moderately active and would make a great jogging buddy.
How is this dog on a lead?
Archie is well behaved, slowing down when his name is called.
How is this dog off the lead?
Archie usually stays close by and comes when called.
Archie needs a secure yard with normal (2 meter high) colour bond fencing as he can jump over low fencing. He can also use a trellis as a ladder so fencing will need to be clear.
If Archie is left alone for extended periods with limited space and not much exercise he will bark. While he may whinge a little when you leave he usually settles after a while.
As is normal, if Archie is left alone for extended periods without exercise or mental stimulation he may dig holes.
Tolerance to being alone.
Archie needs someone home more often than not or someone who can take him with them when they leave. He is ok alone for 5-6 hrs.
Cuddles and running.
Being left alone for longer then 5-6 hours.
