Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Happy, playful and very loyal, Annie loves attention but can cope alone. She is smart and outdoorsy, (loves hiking) and while she is friendly she is not a 'shrinking violet' or anyone's fool.
Annie is an endearing 'goofball'. She sleeps on her back with her legs in the air. When she wants to play she makes you aware, and when it's time to relax she'll cuddle up on the couch. She loves to play with her owners - a ball, rope, frisbee - and generally loves to be around and involved with what is happening in the home.
At home loud noises, rough housing or things that appear unexpectedly startle Annie and can make her feel intimidated. However, in a calm and gentle environment she is fine. This is why we recommend she does not live with kids as a precaution.
A grassy garden (medium to large) with dedicated, patient, loving and active adult owners who are home often and willing to play with and continue with Annie's training.
She is ok for full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as he is a central focus when people are home.
Annie should be the only permanent dog in the home as a precaution.
She will not suit homes where people live in very close proximity e.g. court yards, inner city living.
As Annie is people orientated she needs to be part of family activities.
She will not suit homes with residents that are:
Reason For Rehoming?
Annie has been a cherished and well looked after member of the family. As an act of love her owners need to find a new home due to work and family demands (including crawling youngsters). Otherwise she will need to be tethered or crated for most of her life.
This owner has imposed a firm deadline without extension.
Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker.
Annie will suit any of the following:
Medium to high - playful and active. You will need to be fit and active enough to keep up.
Annie would love a long walk everyday. She also enjoys an activity or game wherever it can happen. She loves finding a ball that's been hidden and is very good at finding it!
She is quite content with staying at home, as long as she has something to keep her entertained. She also loves the couch (when invited) or laying asleep at your feet if you are around.
When ON a lead ...
Ok unless distracted. Annie can become anxious if dogs come into her space and will stand her ground if they challenge her but does not actively look for trouble.
When OFF a lead ...
Her recall is not consistent and needs work before you let her off the lead at a park or dog beach
Type of Yard Required
Medium to large interesting and secure. She may take advantage of an open gate and wander off but does not usually try and escape. Shoulder height fencing is fine.
Strictly no court yards, including terrace house yards or inner city living.
