More About Me
Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Hank loves people. He is very friendly and trusts everyone. He loves to wrestle, chase and be chased - playtime is fun!! He is good with other dogs and if another dog chases his ball he will immediately stop running and let the other dog take it. He loves to learn new commands and tricks, loves attention and he loves treats.
He relishes his toys and enjoys playing fetch more than anything in the world !!! He also likes tug of war and adores swimming.
Hank enjoys training and learns quickly.
Unfortunately, Hank has a considerable problem when walking in the suburbs on a lead around known triggers - specifically things on wheels or around pedestrians (bikes, prams, joggers, gofers etc...) He is not aggressive but will chase, only to say hello however, his focus is unwavering. While this is improving it is unlikely to ever be entirely resolved.
This reaction is different to his normal, inquisitive interest in other animals including dogs. Both reactions are friendly.
Hence, he requires either:
Hank would love another friendly dog to romp around with but this is not essential.
Hank's natural herding instinct and friendly, playful nature means this smart, social boy needs an environment where he is mentally stimulated.
Hank's ideal home would be acreage, preferably with another friendly dog.
He is not a highly energetic dog but seems to be always on alert.
He loves people. Loves other dogs. Loves Life.
As Hank is people orientated he needs to be part of family activities.
He will not suit homes with residents that are very young, frail, elderly, renters, time poor or novice dog owners.
Medium - playful and moderately active.
Type of Yard Required
He requires either:
Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
He will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker.
He will suit any of the following:
When ON a lead ...
Hank cannot be walked on a lead in the suburbs in a calm manner if there are triggers. He will pull, spin and do back flips when he encounters triggers - joggers, bikes and prams etc.... If there are no encounters he is a good walker and enjoys a sniff but better suited to rural life.
When OFF a lead ...
If he sees a jogger, bike or pram he will take off to say hello. He is friendly and not aggressive but will not come back.
In a rural setting he usually stays close and comes when called. But will take off if he sees a trigger - see above. He's a bit of a scaredy cat with unknown rustling in the bushes so is unlikely to take off and chase kangaroos etc.. and would love a dip in a dam or lake.
