Fees and Charges
Are there fees and charges for re-homing and adoption?
Yes. Dog Adoption is a privately run service that does not receive any funding or seek donations. Dog Adoption covers our substantial overheads by charging admin and adoption fees. These are usually not negotiable.
Admin fee - paid by the owner ($110)
The admin fee is a modest charge that covers advertising costs, writing profiles, editing photos, uploading media onto 2-3 websites, collating vet work and/or behavioural assessments plus liaising with owners.
In order to assist owners any outstanding vet work is heavily subsidised and is completed after adoption by a vet approved by Dog Adoption.
Fees and charges will be payable prior to commencing any work to foster or re-home your dog. Vet costs are refunded if you withdraw the dog from the program:-
- $110 admin fee (if 2 dogs need to stay together, the fee is $110 in total)
- $45 vaccination (if expires within 3 months of ADOPTION)
- $45 microchip
- $140 - $170 sterilisation
Fees and charges may be waived for proven welfare cases.
Adoption fees - paid by the successful applicant
Adoption fees cover the costs of re-homing the dog.
Before an approved applicant can adopt a dog they will need to pay Dog Adoption an adoption fee. This principle is extremely important and we can discuss this with you privately to avoid 'coaching' applicants here.
Owners and applicants must not make private arrangements regarding the adoption fee. See Re-homing terms and conditions and adoption terms and conditions.
